Admittedly I do not have time to run a guild, however this is what I'm looking for in one:
I would like to be part of an internal "police" force. A guild that openly and decisively seeks and kills bots and gold farmers, in addition to griefers, etc. Anyone else like me out there? |

Two problems:
First - it needs a game mechanics that allows to grief bots. But since the game does not know whether it is a bot or a legit player - how do you prevent that people are getting perma griefed? Second - they are bots, they do not care. One person can controll hundreds of toons and you would be busy 24/7 fighting programs. You will stop after a couple weeks while they keep spawning. Believe me, it will not work - we tried in other games. The only ones who can efficiently fight bots would be the game developers by installing an outstanding monster AI and a handful of GMs perma scouting actively and swinging the ban hammer. First requires good designing skills, second is an expensive method. The professional farmers however will allways find their ways to farm as long as there is money to make. And - the better the game the more players are willing to pay for extra advantages - which will result in the farmers becoming even more of a plague. Also - do not underestimate the cash flow coming in with the farmers. So far no publisher could truly resist calculating with them... If there is a way to fight them in MO however, we will not hesitate to go it. Last edited by Seneca : 15th April 2008 at 18:09. |

We are given a rare opportunity to hinder these people, and I for one am going to take advantage of every opportunity to do so. |

The higher the effort the higher the price for virtual gold. I have seen individual people paying tens of thousands of dollars to get an advantage over others. And that much money encourages someone to find a gap when he usually has 50 dollars a month for a living. 11 years mmog experience taught me that.
