actually, 2 handed weapons are faster than dual weilding, and stronger. Traditionally the only real advantage to dual weilding is being able to block and attack at the same exact time with either hand...basically you have a lot of flexibility in combat, there isn't much of an advantage outside of that. You get tired faster, your speed is reduced by more than half when dual weilding instead of using 2 hands on one weapon, and you don't hit nearly as hard. As far as weapons, i'd like to see a variety of spears or polearms, and i'd like to see dual weilding used as it traditionally was used, not as video games have made it out to be. |

a 'gnome/dwarf' thats a ranged weapon, you punt it and it flies towards your enemy, stunning the enemy and causing damage over time(the retched thing bites at the enemy once landed)

Games seem to be agaisnt spear and shield combo and instead make people use their spears 2 handed :s I don't know whats up with that as spear/shield was one of the most used weapon combatations of all times and its pikes not short spears that require two hands. I would love to see this in and an end to the lame 2 handed spear...

![]() As you can see from the picture, taken years ago, I am wielding a 2H spear & shield whilst the chap to my right has just a 2H spear. It would depend on your fighting style. Spear + shield are great if you're in a shield wall. If you're not, 2H spear on its own gives greater mobility whilst allowing you to use it as a quarter-stave & spear, giving greater offensive options. So I agree with this suggestion <nods> |

Generally, 2h spear in my eyes is useless unless in a skirmish/ambush or a line of them against cavalry. 1h and shield gives massive defence against both ranged and melee, and also allows for the soldier to fight offensively well.

I hope to see these as well. . especially the larger crushing weapons. From what I understand they will be crafted in parts. . .so chose the pole length and then throw an end on. . ie. . long pole. . curved blade at the end. . long pole. . double headed hammer on the end etc.
I hope this is how it turns out. I think Mats has most to do with this if I am correct. |

Such as: Mounts (Not required to ride one, and were relatively easy to get) Taming (I LOVE taming, and I feel it was balanced in UO....Dragons were powerful, but easily killed by a person if they knew what they were doing) Magic (Not required to have, not too overly overpowered, and easy to level up) Bardic (Peacekeeping and provoking was amazing fun to play around with....even if I didn't get to loot the monsters I killed using with it) Archery (Easy, simple, cheap to use) Crafting (Easy and simple. Make a name for yourself by the armor/etc you made. Gear (Easy to obtain, worth wearing it, and no worries if you lost it) Housing (Some of the best memories I have were sitting around a buddy's house, fighting around it, and stealing houses/loot in it) Stealing (Pickpocketing was great and added flavor to the game) Recall Stones (Recall made it easy to recall whenever you marked a rune at. Travel was quick and easy) Portals (Also made travel easier and PK spots) And many more things that are too many to list. All these add up to a good economy, easy to travel, fluff to add flavor, PvE easy and difficult, PK was easy and difficult, equipment, ammo, and reagents were not overly difficult to obtain, and above all else, VARIETY! This made me laugh, but mainly because it reminds me of a true story of an incident that happened in my home city a month ago where a group of people from a bachelorette party were moving around the bar scene down town and one of the guys with them happened to have a large dildo about 3-4 feet long.
Anyway they were making allot of noise and were confronted by a mounted policemen. The guy with the dildo was pretty drunk and had it in his head for some reason to slap the horse on the ass with his dildo. Anyway this startled the horse and caused a scene. They were all arrested. I'm not sure what the man ended up getting arrested for but I do wonder about his future resumes seeing how assaulting an officer of the law is a felony, maybe even sexual assault I'm not sure. |

I want a staff that is freaking useful. Not just something for a mage to lean on. A staff used properly is a very effective and fast weapon for attack and defense. This idea can be extended to those who want spears as well, after all a spear is just a pointy staff. but a staff should act more like dual wielding weapons then a 2handed weapon. Of course the 2nd attack will come from the opposite side then the main attack, which could cause some issues with how dual wielding is currently getting handled.

I agree with the earlier poster who suggested whips. Whips are awesome.

Tons of weapons I'd love to see in MO....
No specific order: Atlantean Sword (Yeah, it's what Conan the Barbarian used) Sica (Curved sword with 16-18 inch blade, useful for passing shields, possible better at fighting someone with a shield if you use sica? small effect to shield usages? Perhaps erase auto-blocking from opponent when wielding?) Khopesh (Sickle Sword) Pata (Sword Gauntlet, as seen in the movie 'Willow', Mad Martigan ftw) Trident/Net (Not a fan of CC so possibly net would be a bad idea) Cestus, Katar, (Fist weapons, first is leather straps with like metal studs or spikes, Katar is like what Voldo uses in the Soul Calibur games) Ninjato/Katana/Wakizashi Javelin (More throwable weapons) Spears (Long, Short, and everything in between) Bastard Swords, Broadswords, Cutlass, Scimitars, Falchions, Daggers, Dirks, Rapiers, Foils (w various variations), Parry Daggers, Knives, Flyssa (used to break open chainmail), Kris, Viking Swords, Arming Swords, Long Swords, Gladius, various other blades used for slicing and thrusting. Shields w various designs, sizes, impact ability(for shield bashing) Halberd, Bardiche, Glaive, various other Pole arms perhaps. Quarter Staffs, Bo Staffs, various other staffs/staves. Falcata (one edged blade that pitches forward towards the point, the edge being concave on the lower part of the sword, but convex on top). Axes, Battle Axes, Great Axes, Hatchet, Broad Axe, Mauls, Flails, Morning Stars, Warhammer, Pickaxe, Crowbill, Clubs, Mace, Flanged Mace, Sceptars, Flambard, Greatsword, Zweihander, Short Bows, Composite Bows, Long Bows, Crossbows, Heavy Crossbows, Light Crossbows, etc There are a lot of weapons out there that could be in MO, I personally would love to see a lot but nothing too far into the future such as gunpowder etc. Pretty much any weapon in Ultima Online early years would be fine with me.
