My favorite weapon of all time is a scythe.
If you have ever seen someone use one as a weapon irl, then you know what I mean, it is so much fun to watch. So with MO's focus on reality, it can be a really cool weapon. If you have seen it in a fantasy sense, then it is even cooler. Such as in some animes, or video games. Like my sig, Hidan, from Naruto, watch a few episodes if you want, really cool weapon, its also in several video games, like Soul Calibur......(If only people could use it like that irl lol ^^) And finally, just the intimidation of it. A scythe in my opinion is easily one of the most intimidating weapons, a long reach with a heavy weaighted head coming down or from the side at you is definatley something that is going to do some damage. Also, its generaly just a BIG weapon 0.0.But given the light handle end of it, still provides alot of mobility for movement and defense. Cool weapon, cool look, beautiful style to watch if you ever get the chance to see it in person. My vote is scythe. ^^ -luclinraider

I would really love to see 'Tonfa' in the game. If you don't know what this is its what is now called "night sticks" and was carried by a large number of police forces before they were replaced with extending batons and others of the same.

A boomarang!
You will be suprised how much damage you can do to a whole army with one of these. -- On a serious note, I love playing ranged-based character's in games where I have the chance, so any bow will suffice. |

![]() ![]() Scythes, a lot of people have mentioned, also look similar to this. At least those used in armies. Their blades were straight; the huge, curved, grim-reaper looking scythe is used for cutting wheat, smaller ones (I think they're called Kamas) also useful for cutting rice. They aren't very useful for combat, but hey, it's a fantasy, who cares? XD I want the most favorite weapon of all besieged armies: a ceramic pot full of urine! That, combined with a plague-ridden rat-flail, will make my day ^^

It always bothered me that games based around a certain time period HAD to include swords or bows, just because that's what happened historically. I think a separate evolution of weaponry would definitely been possible.
For example instead of swords, blades based around the arms and legs could have developed. So, instead of fighting with your wrist, the player would be fighting with a forearm or bicep that's closer to their center. As a result, fighting styles would have even been different. I really hope the devs are really creative in their design aspects both visually and functionally. Everyone's played with swords, let's do something different for once! |

Afaik the Katana is a hand and a half sword, or in other words a sword that can be used both ways, it's light and balanced but has a long handle allowing heavy strokes to be delivered in 2 handed fashion, the Dai katana was a Samurai's field sword, being used in battle and not carried around or used in ceremonial situations like a Katana. For myself I hope Flamberge's/zweihanders which can actually be held fore of the guard will be included or failing that Warhammers which can actually be used in momentum fashion, swinging for as long as strength allows. Ohh and scimitars, who doesn't like a scimitar :P |

I'd actually like to see Flails in game. They seem to always be left out.
There are a variety of flails. Some are more like a Spiked ball and long chain. Some have handles, some have multiple heads. Some have spikes, some just do crushing or blunt dmg. In either case, I don't think I can remember ever seeing flails in an MMO. |

And the iron tip was designed to break on impact rendering the pilum useless so it could not be thrown back at the romans, genius :P they used them to soften a charge or make it falter altogether as opponents would stumble over their fallen comrades at full tilt whilst running at the roman gladius/remaining pilum/shield wall. |

I'm all for axes, halberds, and javelins. I'd throw in a nice hammer, some fun maces and morning stars, and probably a glaive as well as a Nordic sword-staff.

Actually many crossbows were known for shooting farther than bows (including longbows). Crossbows also are better at piercing (at close range). However crossbows shoot obviously much slower and have less accuracy at long range.

Really need to know how the weapons and damage are modeled. Or most will want the longest weapon like any polearm type, if the weapon/damage area isn't modeled it becomes a 6-8ft sword edge.
I definitely am a sword and board type, it would be nice to see curved blades like the Yatagan or a kukri for up close and personal. Most importantly a nice collection of shields would be nice. |

Perhaps they could include some short knifes and throwing knifes such as these. Maybe they could have concealable weapons so if you mug and kill someone, you could hide your weapon and just fit in with the crowd.

Then after all the people who just want to burn houses leave and people get a good understanding of the game, it will be AWESOME! MO devs, can I please beta-test? |

Claws? It doesn't seem to me that claws were a truly viable weapon in any point in history and a claw user would probably get his/her ass kicked 9 out of 10 times by a sword user because of the reach, but they would be great at blocking/parrying smaller weapons like daggers.
Other than that I would like to see flails in the game--The sound of a rattling chain swinging in a circle over the head of the user and a skullcrushing sound when the ball makes impact, ohh yes!
