I wonder how nobody mentioned spiked shield as a weapon... or spiked armor. If anybody ever heard of Gutbuster brigate from Forgotten Realms they'll know what I'm talking about... for the rest
"The Gutbuster Brigade was formed in 1357DR, when an army of Drow attacked Mithril Hall. Thibbledorf Pwent handselected a score of dwarves to train as battleragers—a chaotic form of fighting, with different Battlerager Guilds having varying styles - Thibbledorf's personal 'art' consists of putting on an armor full of spikes, and throwing oneself at the enemy, convulsing and shredding them. A highly efficient way of fighting in the narrow underground corridors, the young Gutbusters took the drow completely by surprise." Picture here: http://forgottenrealms.wikia.com/wiki/Thibbledorf_Pwent

this would be silly to have but having the Dragon Slayer from Berserk would be great. Yea that's right come steal this from me if you can lift it.
Dragon Slayer- about a 7 ft. long sword that's roughly 1ft. wide, and 1 inch thick. Now putting that is realistic terms would mean a 5ft. blade that's about 7-8 inches wide and 3/4 inches thick. But if its able to be made that's all I wanna use. |

Ahahaha, +as many points as I can for suggesting Pwent If they could implement his fighting style in MO. I'd drop all my magical plans. But since they say the crafting is unique, players could probably put a few spikes on the shield and use that arm to swing the shield. Would be pretty funny to be able to run into people with spiked armor. I haven't seen a game to do it yet. And MO is the right one to do it.

I'd personally like to see magical focus gloves.
If anyone else is familiar with Hellgate: London. Cabalist were my favorite, simply because they had these 'focus' items. Grant it, in HGL, the gloves were hi-tech. But a medieval spin on such weapons would be pretty awesome. Give casters something else besides the bland staff or wand. ![]()

Ryzom has magical focus gloves, they are pretty darn cool.
I'm hoping, though, that casting wouldn't need much of anything in MO, weapon-wise. I wouldn't mind implements that modify the outcome but I hope magic-wielders won't simply be shooting "magic bullets" out of their chosen weapons.

AK47!!!
Serious: Claws/fist weapons, and as siege weapons I would like to see catapults instead of warhulks like in Darkfall.

Whenever someone suggests a katana, I puke a little. If there's one overused weapon in gaming, this is it.
Personally, I'd like to see morning stars/flails, spears, halberds, and less represented stuff like kukris, katars, tulwars, jambiyas, yataghans. Maybe even something out of South-East Asia, like Philippine golok, kris, parang or karambit. I'd also love to see some variety to armor, helmet and shields. Usually all we get is West-European medieval stuff, or at best Italian Gothic period. How about more armors with east-european motif, or maybe even Mongolia? |

As for the wishlist: One handed spears, Im tired of every MMO treats spears as a peasants weapon (i.e. 2 handed wielding) A professional army should be able to use spears and shields at the same time. And speaking of spears: A mounted lance would also be nice. And pikes to counter it. Not exactly a weapon but a wish of combat style: Restricting what weapons you can use on horseback, a rider firing a long bow would be ludicrous IMO or wielding a two handed sword (other than a bastard sword) |

I'm going to continue to beat this dead horse until Star Vault capitulates to my demands.
I want to trade the weapon in my other hand for a shield, and thus dual wield shields. That, or give me the ability to craft "torch" as a weapon blade. In this manner I could then craft torch-spears, skill up for ridiculous strength, and hire myself out as a budget fire elemental. |

For 1-handed weapon I'd love to see Kriss (kinda like Soul Reaver from Legacy of Kain) - http://www.shadowxj5.co.uk/soulreave...LightAybss.jpg or like in Ultima Online.
2-handed weapon.. crescent blade? http://images.buycostumes.com/mgen/m...iser/21486.jpg Bow - composite bow http://medieval2.heavengames.com/m2t...posite_bow.jpg and I think that's about it |

I'd like to see a Highlander claymore in the game... And a Targe like William Wallace used... Not sure if that was said previously.

I know this is a fantasy game, but I hope there is a good amount of realism in the weaponry. Having katanas that can magically rip through plate armor would definitely be a down side. For Asian weapons, I would avoid the katana and go for:
Various forms of daos, which is similar in some ways to the Mongolian sabre. The dadaos, cheap but effective chopping swords. The miaodao which, if I recall correctly, was tested and found to be the most effective sword against plate armor. It is similar in shape to a long katana, but far more durable. Also it's ancestor the zhanmadao, which is an anti-cavalry weapon. Kwandao and pudao halberds. And, one of my all-time favorites, the Chinese cresent halberd. Getting away from Asian weapons, I'd definitely want to see weapons that I plan on using. As a highlander, I hope to see: The claymore great sword of course. Baskethilt broadsword. Dirk and sgian dubh. Also, even though it isn't highlander, I'd like to see the celtic long sword and also the seax. Those are the only weapons I really plan on using. |

Personally i'd love to see some nice polearm/bladed pole weapons like halberds and scythes. Also a nice crescent blade weapon like the traditional Klingon weapon from Star Trek would be neat. The bow crafting system that has been brought up also has me bursting with high hopes. To be able to make a Composite Recurve bow out of whatever materials i want, choosing shape and even wether its symmetrical or assymetrical is just outstanding imo. |

Thank you, Shinimas, for correcting the... *gurgle, foam* notion that people ever did, or could dual-wield the katana. It took me all the self-control I could muster to avoid going Darkfall Forumer on their arses.
Anyway, sharktooth axe with "ammunition," ala the Maori's axe. After a certain amount of hits, you'd have to go back to the crafter's bench and replace the shark's teeth. Damage over time/bleeding, and fatal against unarmoured curs. God those teeth would hurt. Also, please, PLEASE, STAR VAULT, give us one-handed spears! It seems like no MMO, ANYWHERE, can fathom a spear that isn't a pike and held with THREE hands. Give us the good ol' European/everywhereintheworld shield-and-spear combo!

Not meant to be rude or anything I think this thread been discussing about weapons, and frankly quite a collection. Is this what the thread starter is asking? If is not, I humbly appologized for the intrusion.

while its true what you say, if you read some of his books, he perfected teqniques to still get the full effect of a katana with the "pull" while only using it one handed. and thats how he perfected the use of 2 of them at the same time. there alot different then traditional katana practices but still work well. but it is alot harder to do and takes alot more practice then more traditional styles. |
