I don't get it. I just can't understand how a grown man can enjoy watching cartoons. I've tried to look past the colors and silly sounds, still the characters are acting like in any cartoon I watched as a kid. So since there are appearantly so many anime-watchers here I guess you could help me understand.
But quite alot of anime is made for the young/middle aged men that wants to watch kids get tentacle raped.
Obvious troll is obvious. I'm not a big anime fan, but I've watched most of the highly rated anime movies (Spirited Away, Princess Mononoke, etc) and also a couple of anime series. I'd recommend you check out Monster and then come back here and make the claim that "the characters are acting like in any cartoon I watched as a kid", because if that's the case, then you watched some fucked up cartoons as a kid.
Well i actually like anime, atleast some.. Claymore, FullmetalA and Berserk is a few examples of what i enjoy. Doesn't change the fact that tentacle rape is a reoccuring thing in anime, and that is funny as hell.
Well tentacle rape is apparently an every-day occurrence in Japan. So they just depict their reality as it is.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j2tQKejS9Fo I remember watching this as a kid. Would any of you enjoy watching this anime?
I'm trying to turn over a new leaf and not be as judgemental as I have in the past but your really testing me with this one.
I can understand how someone can dislike anime, but when you dislike it just because it's drawn it just is silly. One of the clearest advantages with anime is that the shows often are made with an end in mind, and not like in most American shows were they try to keep it running for as long as possible. In western show characters die because either because they aren't popular, the actor didn't want to renew the contract or because the writers can't do anything more with the character. In anime series where characters die pretty much anyone can die, so you in dangerous situations there's real suspense. It's also a lot easier to show action in anime, because it's many times cheaper. It's possible to have truly large objects that would be impossible in live action, and that enables things to feel much grander.
I've got to admit, artistically I can appreciate some animé, its all the weird 12 year old girls in what can hardly be called skirts that puts me right off it.
I dislike anime because I find the characters hard to relate to. When I was a kid it was easier. I dislike regular series which are like you mentioned aswell though prince.
So what types of series do you watch and enjoy? Also I wonder what's needed for you to relate to a character.
I watch shows because they are interesting and not because i can relate to characters. Scene after 41:55 to around 43:00
I can relate to simba. I can relate to mufasa. I can relate to scar. edit: Zenir, the characters are what makes shows interesting. It's the difference between a documentary and movie
