So, recently there have been an increased amount of slag mages running around the map, casting a single spell which can often double cast. It is a spell that can now almost one shot characters for no more effort than pressing a single button. My suggestion is to either remove the spell from the game until the bug is fixed, or allow the damage to also hit the caster so that people using it think twice about exactly when they do so. If it is an area of effect spell, it should hit -everyone- including the caster. If there is going to be such a spell in the game, it should be a last ditch thing. MO is supposed to be a skill based game and there is nothing skillful about pressing one button and doing in some cases over 180 dmg in under 2 seconds. Especially when you have absolutely nothing to lose by doing so when you can run around naked and do it. I cannot put this thread in the bug forum because I cannot tell you how to replicate it, but it happens frequently, in most cases probably from people just bashing their EQ button frantically. I have caught it twice on fraps (links are below) and I just feel that this spell either needs to be made into something that mages use tactically or be removed.
Your mouse movements are very interesting, especially at the times you were in the bushes blocking towards the guy you couldn't see... Anyone else see this? Anyways, just fix double casting and it's all good.
Not really. I was just blocking at the last position I saw someone, or randomly to try and block arrows.
hmm nah, instead fix the double eq and also if you jump at the right moment you should take 0 damage. personally i would rather EQ did minimal damage but knocked everyone except the mage over in its radius, since its a charge spell its not all that effective when chasing a guy down so not op tihs way and since it has quite a lnog charge time most often the mage will get focused as soon as he starts charging. Minimal damage but still some damage like 15 so that the mage cant spam it in towns knocking people over without going grey.
Clearly a major issue with that dble cast how long has the bug been around ??? (only recently really started playing a mage and dont usually use EQ with it )
it would be awesome to see earthquake as a ground-target Aoe, which would then require quite good timing skill to make it land on someone. ofc it needs to have few seconds of "charging" after you decide the place where to put it but maybe it sounds too much WoW-ish
Yea this is stupid it's happens to me all the time for some reason. Should be a hot fix right away for this.
Can we even get some sort of heads up about this? It's really pathetic that there is such a massive flaw in this system that allows people to be able to run around without any fear hitting people for so much dmg.
another solution would be making eq very expensive to cast. So even if your a naked (asshole don't like that play-style at all) mage you have a lot of gold and hard earned regs to lose. Make the spell exotic and a, mostly, one timer. Either your rich and skilled enough to run around with very expensive regs (should be more expensive than fighters equipment) and have enough to cast more than one or it's the ultimate attack that you only cast once every battle.
I think this is the best form of balance possible, if spells are vastly costier to use than, say bandages or anything "natural" then Mages have greater upkeep and anything they can do mechanics wise doesnt need to change. Apart from double eq, after the last fix i've seen it happen by me once. But since it is possible it is something that must be looked at... I've been playing my mage for over 1,5 years now though, any direction SV wants to lead magery towards is fine by me
at least you can perfect block poleswords. magic will just screw you over no matter how skilled you are
EQ should have more utility and less damage. Increase the knockback greatly and lower the damage. This kind of utility should be applied to all spell imo.
