This past weekend we had our kite festival here in downtown Austin. It is the longest running kite festival in the world. Started in the 1920's. Anyway, it was tons of fun. Lots of food, music, games, face painting, ... and of course thousands and thousands of kites. We have SXSW coming up next week with over 2000 bands and over a million people coming to Austin so I'll post a lot of pictures of that.

Today was the first day of SXSW. This is just the interactive part (social media, computers, games, .... geeky shit). Meaning that the internet geeks storm the city. Next week and late next week are the music and film part.

The big scene today was at the Apple downtown. They sold the first iPad2 and I'll put a picture of the dude that got it. The line to get in there was fucking retarded. Wrapped around the whole block. Down the street at the convention center they also had lots of people. Some were all dressed up in the gay larping outfits that you would expect for geeks. But there are lots of shows and talks going on tonight about computer stuff. I'll see if I can get some pictures of the geeks.

The top picture here is the dude to buy the first iPad 2. The rest showing how fucking retarded that line was.

While there were a lot of geeks at the main convention center, there were also some smoke'n hot chicks. Oh, and added one for gbrish at the bottom.

Well the stars were out last night and here are a few pictures of some of them. A few of the ones I happened across were Conan O'Brian, Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher. I did go say hello to Conan and was surprised he is as tall as I am. Demi looked fucking smoking hot.

I don't care the least about celebrities, but that's still quite nice.

Last night we had a very cool party that I would like to share some pictures of as it shows a well known city landmark. It was held at a old decommissioned art deco power plant in Downtown Austin that is being turned into a mall and entertainment district as well as lots of new tall condos around it, but retaining the original art deco power plant building. It is a hell of a trip going in there. Like something out of a batman comic book.

Anyway the party was held by SXSW Vimeo and Nikon, and we brought in Eclectic Method from London, and Diplo from Philly. Both huge names and put on a fucking great party that lasted until well into the daylight morning.

This is the power plant, in other two spoilers I'll show of of how we redid the plant and another of the party.

A friend of mine took these last weekend during SXSW. This makes me very sad.

The 80's are making a comeback! Why of all fashions would anyone want to bring back the 80's? (Edit: Ok, ignore the fact that since the 80's all I have worn is ZZ Top and SRV cloths.)

Not something I am proud of for my city, but very entertaining non-the-less...

The hair styles were horrible during the 80's, but other than that most of the fashion was quite nice.

Was there an earthquake occurring where those pictures were being taken?

Chris is is usually on a million different types of drugs and boozed up. We are just lucky they aren't all shot from the floor.

Also wanted to post about our new F1 track that will be home to the US Grand Prix

This is short Vimeo of the new home for Formula One in the US. Someone told me it is going to draw over 300,000 people to watch the race, and something like over 600,000,000 watch these races on TV. They told me they are even more popular than the Super Bowls and the only thing more popular are the World Cups in soccer. I find all that very hard to believe. But if it is true that will be great for the city. They just started construction on the track here in Austin 2 months ago and it has already come a long way. Here is an areal video of how far along they have come.

    Here is the video

Here is some pictures to give you an idea of where it is in relation to the city (right next to our airport) and what it will look like.

Here is the Google Map of where it is

    F1 is extremely popular.

Hard to believe a non-American sport is popular, huh?

    soccer? basketball? football? fun.
betting with your friends who will get somewhere first in a changing environments where you'd have to gamble on routes and overtake people and avoid those fucking trucks? fun.
and i can get it from a teenagerish perspective how watching the accidents can be fun...

but watching people just go around in circles and being a fan? having your favorite driver and whatnot? i just don't get it.

Here are a couple of post of pictures from the past few weeks. First post is springtime coming to London, and the following is Austin a couple weeks ago.

Here are some pictures of the part of London I live in. It is the north part of Downtown London. If you can call it that. A part called Camden. It has canals, markets, cool people, lots of good food and tons of great music. I live on the west part of it right by Regents Park. I'll make a separate spoiler for Regents park right under the "Camden" one. Below that will be a third spoiler for some pictures going south of Camden to the riverfront.

Here are some from Austin the past few weeks.

The top two are protest over budget cuts. Below that are random pictures of the city and then some party crowds and at the bottom we had a 10k run through downtown.
