For those who don't like clicking links:

With its big show on Steam just over the horizon, Star Vault has laid out how the hardcore sandbox MMO will make its way to gamers worldwide. Before Mortal Online is allowed to release, however, Star Vault is implementing a number of updates and fixes. In the latest press release, Star Vault has laid down just how the Steam rollout will happen. Each block, according to the release, has a lead time of about one month, noting that multiple blocks may run in parallel.

Block 0 – Unreal Engine update
    Block 1 – Territory Control
Block 2 – Territory Control Testing and release
    Block 3 – Continent Support ?
Block 4 – Continent support testing and release
Block 5 – STEAM API release on STEAM

Henrik Nystrom, Star Vault’s CEO, made the following comment (translated): We continue our focus on working towards STEAM, it looks we all look forward to the team, but I also believe that our current players see the value in this. We will increase communication about the development work currently involves about 40 resources in our global development team. For transparency to our shareholders, we have teamed up with Axier, specialists in communication to the stock market. They have produced an analysis of Star Vault. I hope you find it interesting

I'm curious as to what "Continent Support" is, exactly.

    Very cooool stuff :)

They are being very professional with this, that is awesome. Good call with contracting Axier.

EDIT: About to become a shareholder so I can get more updates about the game. ;)

Building the support of multiple continents..... Making sure that they can actually have multiple ones... (and probably adding one as well)

Ahh, I was probably just thinking of it too literally. "Doesn't the game already support one continent??" is what I was thinking.

What does this mean? I think Seb already told us TC wont come anytime soon after the release of the engine upgrade, let alone one month after...

Well if you read it just like it states... TC will come anywhere between 1 and 3 months... Which isn't "soon" after the update....

Yeah and the new continent was supposed to be released in Q1...

Lets be real, TC probably wont come this year, in 1-3 months they will maybe start TESTING it after hotfixing the last patch..

I don't believe they ever said the new continent would be there Q1... TC maybe.... but continent never...
It would be wise to see this as a plan for the rest of the year... with Steam Release around X-mass... which isn't too bad.... as long as they keep adding other stuff in between (just more content/mats/fishes/wood/stones/etc)

No I'm afraid they did estimate TC and the new continent for Q1. That does all sound good though I agree they are probably being overoptimistic as usual.

In parallel means different people are working on different things. eg presumably TC and the new continent are not in a queue but on separate timescales independent of each other.

I would love to buy stock in SV, unfortunately for me I have to buy a very large amount and I am just not in the position to do that right now. :(

Good to hear the word is spreading, lets just hope we can back it up when the time comes. :)

Im guessing the main part of it would be the transitions between continents, and setting up the individual nodes for the new continent, and making sure data can flow from nodes on one continent to another without making everything implode on itself :p

    Edit

This is a small part from the report made by Axier. In short it says that SV got 3 fulltime coders hired and working for them in Sweden, One in the US and one in Canada. They are planning to hire 1 more programmer in Sweden and they also partnered with outsourcing companies in Serbia and India which have between 30-50 employes. A big part of what the outsourced companies are working on is AI

Longer down the post they mention a hope for a Q2 launch on steam but they want to reach some specific milestones before releasing on steam, and want to improve the newbie experience first (better tutorial, help chat and so forth)

Untop of all that, the financial situation isnt actually as bad as I think many people here think it is, they apparently dont actually have that much debt, and the loss they run with isnt that large, and they got a good chunk off cash from various sources (the stock stuff, investors and such, I think)

Here is the link to the report made by Axier, its in Swedish but plenty of good stuff in there to read.

I only read swedish because its so similar to danish, so sry for any misinterpretations

There is 6 steps and if you've been playing SV since release you know that's 6-12 years, but on a plus note SV is being a little more professional. :)

Damnn! Its fucking awesome that they are outsourcing the ai code. Thats awesome news!

Hopefully the Ai is reworked from the ground up.

Im guessing the murican coder is discord.

I don't believe in "one month" per block. I would rather say, three month per block because of bug fixes. Anyway, I like the information very much that StarVault gets more developers and professionally prepares for Steam release.

The world is as large as one unreal map can handle. We have no more space on the grid.
I need to build support in unreal but most of all support on the server for holding 2 continents.
It's like.. building support for a alternate dimension where things can be in the same spot but you only see them if you are in the correct dimension.
    Does that make any sense?
